The feast of The Sunday of Orthodoxy in Jerusalem
9. March 2017 - 16:54On Sunday, 20th February/5th March 2017, the Feast of Orthodoxy was celebrated by the Patriarchate. The Feast is about the setting up of the holy icons in the Churches of the Byzantine Empire after the more than a century harsh persecution by the iconoclasts, who had denied the veneration of icons under the influence of other religions.

The feast of The Boiled Wheat Miracle in Jerusalem

March 2017 - 16:55On Saturday of the first week of Great Lent, the memory of the miracle of the boiled wheat by St. Theodore Tyron the Great Martyr was celebrated by the Patriarchate at the Holy Monastery dedicated to him, which is on the west side of the Patriarchate towards the New Gate, inside the Wall of the Old City of Jerusalem.

On Sunday March 5th, 2017, the Orthodox clergy and faithful of greater Philadelphia gathered in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Wilmington DE., to celebrate Vespers in commemoration of the Triumph of Orthodoxy. Our honored guest was His Grace, Rt. Rev. Bishop Thomas of the Antiochian Orthodox Diocese of Charleston, Oakland and the Mid-Atlantic. In his homily, His Grace emphasized that each of us is a living icon, and the importance of frequent and fervent partaking of the Holy Eucharist for us to become ever more godly living icons.
Last cleric of Beijing Mission reposes in the Lord
7. March 2017 - 11:59The last clergyman of the Orthodox mission in Beijing, Protodeacon Evangel Lu, passed away on March 5 in Shanghai following a long illness, reports Fr. Dionysius Pozdnyaev, a Russian priest serving at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Tung Chung, Hong Kong.
