The Synaxis of the Abbots and Abbesses in the Archdiocese of Bucharest took place Thursday, 3 November 2016, at Pasărea Monastery, Ilfov County. His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, chaired the session.

Patriarch of Jerusalem participates in "Byzantine Thessaloniki" Conference

On Sunday, the 24^th of October/6^th of November 2016, H.B. Theophilos, Patriarch of Jerusalem, accompanied by the Elder Secretary-General, Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, and Archdeacon Markos, led the Divine Liturgy at the magnificent St Demetrius Church in Thessaloniki, having as concelebrants H.B. Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, Metropolitan Anthimos of Thessaloniki, and other Prelates.

The Divine Liturgy was held on the conclusion of the Conference on the city’s Byzantine ecclesiastical heritage. During lunch, His Beatitude spoke in Greek.

Molotov cocktails hurled at church of Moscow patriarchate in Ukraine

Unknown persons have thrown Molotov cocktails at a church of the Moscow patriarchate in Pavlograd, in central Ukraine’s Dnepropetrovsk region, the press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church said on Nov. 7.

"The unknown persons set on fire the St. Cyril and Methodius church in Pavlograd of the Dnepropetrovsk eparchy. The attackers hurled three Molotov cocktails at the church premises - two at the church and another one at the altar," the statement said.

Monument to Prince Vladimir opened on Day of People’s Unity in Moscow

Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia opened a monument to the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Great Prince Vladimir, the Baptizer of Russia, on Borovitskaya Square, reports the president’s website.
