Group of Roman Catholics in Argentina Convert to Orthodoxy
25. November 2016 - 16:20A group of Catholics in Argentine decide to convert in Orthodoxy after Patriarch Kirill’s sermon. A collective of the Caritas charitable organization in Argentinian Curuzu decided to adopt Orthodoxy as they were deeply impressed by Patriarch Kirill’s sermon during his tour to Latin America this February.
“During the patriarch’s visit he (a Caritas official from Curuzu) watched the translation from Asuncion. He was deeply touched by our primate’s words and the fact that he visited a small provincial town Asuncion and serve in a small church and said a wonderful sermon,” Metropolitan Ignaty of Argentina and South America said on air the Soyuz TV channel.

Before the meeting, the participants of the celebrations prayed at the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Archpriest Mikhail Ryazantsev, and sacristan of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, and clergymen of Moscow.

Church Slava in San Marcos, CA

November 2016 - 15:34His Grace Bishop Maxim of the Western American Diocese made a canonical visit to the faithful of St. Petka Serbian Orthodox Church in San Marcos, California on Sunday, October 23, 2016 the 18th Sunday after Pentecost and the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council.
It was on this Sunday that the parishioners of St. Petka festively celebrated their Church Slava. Concelebrating with His Grace at the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy were Protopresbyter Stavrophor Milan Vukovic, retired priest from the San Marcos parish and Protopresbyter Milovan Katanic, parish priest. Also serving were Deacon Vladan Radovanovic, the diocesan deacon and Deacon David-John Williams from the neighboring Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos parish in Orange County. Following the Slava Litiya His Grace blessed the Slava kolach and koljivo with this year's kumovi Momcilo and Emilija Curcic. A festive Slava banquet followed in the church hall.
