Chinese version of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk's book "The Sacrament of Faith" comes out

The Chinese version of Metropolitan Hilarion’s book ‘The Sacrament of Faith’ has come out. It has been prepared by the Orthodox Brotherhood of Ss Peter and Paul in Hong Kong. The translation was made by Ling Seng, a young expert in Russian language and literature who studies at the extramural department of Khabarovsk Seminary.

The book has been published by the China Orthodox Press publishers. It will be available for the Chinese reader in the format of traditional hieroglyphs both in paper and in electronic writing at the publishers’ shop.

Metropolitan Hilarion’s book ‘The Sacrament of Faith’ first came out in 1996. Its Russian edition has been republished nine times. The latest, tenth, edition translated into Chinese was published by the Moscow Patriarchate Publishers in 2013. The book is translated into the English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Greek, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Georgian, Romanian, Finnish, Swedish and Japanese languages.

Archbishop of America Demetrios crosses Edmund Pettus Bridge with President Barack Obama

 Archbishop Demetrios of America, together with President Barack Obama and other major civic and religious leaders, walked today, March 7, 2015, the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

On March 15, 1965, Archbishop Iakovos of North and South America had come here and participated in the March on Selma, led by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Upon his arrival to Selma, Archbishop Demetrios noted, "It is truly a blessing to travel to Selma to pay tribute to the legacy of both Dr. King and Archbishop Iakovos. The promotion and protection of civil rights transcends politics since the ability to determine one`s future is a God-given blessing."

ISIS Releases 4 More Assyrians, Including 6 Year-old Mariana

Today ISIS released four more Assyrian captives who were captured in the initial attacks on the 35 Assyrian villages on the Khabur river, in the Hasaka province of Syria.

Two Assyrians from Tel Shamiram were released, Yatroun Marko and his wife Wardiyya Yonan. Two Assyrians from Tel Goran were released, 6 year-old Mariana Mirza and her father’s aunt, Bobo Mirza. Mariana’s parents had also been captured and were released on Sunday , but ISIS did not release Mariana at that time. Mariana’s father’s aunt, Bobo, who also had been released, stayed behind with Mariana.

OCA Alaskan Diocese “gives” a church to Kenya

 On February 15, 2015, His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios of Kenya, assisted by his new vicar, His Grace, Bishop Neophytos, consecrated the first church in Africa dedicated to Saint Herman of Alaska—a “gift” from the clergy and laity of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of Alaska.

On March 1, 2015, the Day of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Liturgy of St Basil the Great and the Office of the Triumph of Orthodoxy at the Cathedral Church of Christ the Saviour.

The celebration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy in Hong Kong

 On Sunday, March 1, Sunday of Orthodoxy, Metropolitan Nektarios of Hong Kong and South East Asia, assisted by Fr.Jeffry Yang, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Saint Luke Orthodox Cathedral in Hong Kong. At the end of the Liturgy Metropolitan Nektarios presided over the Procession of the Holy Icons.
