His Beatitude Theodoros II meets with Ambassador of Egypt in Zimbabwe

On 11th October 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa  paid an official visit to His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt in Zimbabwe, Mr Basem Halil,who hosted an official lunch in his honour at the Ambassadorial residence in Harare.

Welcoming the Venerable Primate of the Orthodox Church of Africa, the Ambassador spoke of the centuries old fraternal relations between the Greek and Egyptian people, while also praising the contribution made by the Patriarchate of Alexandria to the traditionally harmonious co-existence between Christians and Muslims in the Land of the Nile. He also expressed the belief that Greece will be able ti overcome the present financially difficult situation.

His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa  was warmly welcomed by the 840 pupils of the Hellenic International Academy in Harare, the Greek School that 140 Greek children and 700 others from Zimbabwe attend and which has a special place among all the schools of this Southern African Country.

In his statement published below, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church expresses support for the suffering Egyptian Christians.

‘The Russian Orthodox Church has followed the developments in Egypt with concern and bitterness. Blood has been spilt and Christian churches have been destroyed again. There is another manifestation of growing intolerance towards Christians and their legal and physical vulnerability in the Egyptian society.

In Notre Damme Orthodox All Night Vigil served on the Eve of the feast day of St. Dionysius the Areopagite

The Orthodox All night vigil was served on October 9, in the church of Notre Dame, on the occasion of St. Dionysius, the first Parisian bishop, who is honoured by both the Orthodox and the Catholics.

The solemn service was held by the head of the Diocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in France, Metropolitan Emanuel of Gaul.

The Saint Dionysius the Areopagite - holy martyr, one of the seventy apostles. He was Athenian aristocrate, who was converted to Christianity by Saint Paul the Apostle during the significant speech in the Athenian areopagus.

Digitalization of Libraries in Ecumenical Patriarchate Under the Aegis of HTO

Greek HTO and Cosmote company have undertaken the work of digitalization and documentation of Libraries in the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Theological School of Halki.

The chairman and chief executive of HTO, Michalis Tsamaz visited the Ecumenical Patriarch in Constantinople in order to give information about the contribution of HTO to digitalization of libraries in Patriarchate, using modern methods of analysis and access to the digitalized material.

A working team consisting of analysts, consultants, and engineers will be responsible for the creation of an information infrastructure for digitalization and documentation of written cultural documents in Patriarchate and Theological School.
