The Orthodox Theological Faculty from Munich visits The Jerusalem Patriarchate

On Saturday September 25th /October 9th 2011 the Orthodox Theological School of Munich consisting of its students and several accompanying pilgrims led by His Grace Bishop Remezianis Andreas of the Serbian Patriarchate and the Bishop of Stuttgart Agapitos of the Russian church of Dispersion as well as the Professor of the Faculty Mr. Athanasios Vletsis, visited the Patriarchate.

Church Still to Decide on Identity of Crown Prince Alexey and Princess Maria's Remains

The issue of the identity of the remains of Crown Prince Alexey and Princess Maria's remains has not been discussed by the Russian Orthodox Church yet.

The remains were found near Yekaterinburg in 2007.

Cappella Romana to Sing Great Vespers and Divine Liturgy in Seminary Chapel

The famed vocal chamber ensemble Cappella Romana  will sing the responses during Great Vespers and Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Archangels in our Three Hierarchs Chapel. We warmly welcome our friends and neighbors to celebrate with us and to hear the solemn beauty of this choral group, which travels throughout the world. Great Vespers will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Monday, November 7; Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8.

Pilgrims from The Patriarchate of Georgia in Jerusalem

On Sunday, September 26th /October 9th 2011, a small group of pilgrims from Georgia visited the Patriarchate as a delegation on behalf of the Patriarchate of Georgia. The delegation was led by the secretary of the Patriarchate of Georgia Mrs. S. Tinatin and members of the Embassy of Georgia in Tel-Aviv.

The above mentioned delegation was accepted at the Patriarchate by His Holy Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos who, welcoming them, spoke about the duty of the sister Orthodox Churches to cooperate based on mutual respect, love and peace in Christ for the benefit and interests of the souls of their congregation.

Georgia Celebrates Day of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral today

Georgia celebrates the day of Mtskheta city and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is celebrated today, October 14. Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II served the Liturgy at the Svetitskhoveli church today at 10:00am. Special busses were made available at Patriarchate for people to attend church service, reports the Georgian news agency,  Interpress News.

Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is a Georgian Orthodox cathedral located in the historical town of Mtskheta, Kartli region, 20 km (12.5 miles) northwest of the nation's capital of Tbilisi. The Georgian Orthodox Church also marks today the commemoration of Georgian St. King Miriani and Queen Nana (4th century), as well as St. Sidonia and Abiatara.

St. Nicholas Greek-Orthodox Church To Be Rebuild at the WTC

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America officially signed an agreement today on rebuilding the church of St. Nicholas, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that he, joined by Port Authority Executive Director Chris Ward, representatives of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and St. Nicholas Parish and Majority Leader Dean Skelos, signed the agreement that permits the rebuilding of the Church with a nondenominational bereavement center at the east end of Liberty Park, at 130 Liberty Street. The agreement follows a four-month independent engineering study commissioned by the Port Authority and the Archdiocese, which found that the Church could be built on the site with minor modifications to the original plan and with no impact on the World Trade Center construction schedule.
