The feast of The Apperance of the sign of The Cross in the heavens in Jerusalem

On Thursday 7/20 May 2021, the Patriarchate celebrated the feast of the appearance of the sign of the Cross in the heavens. On this feast, the Church, and especially the Church of Jerusalem commemorates that on 7 May in the year 351, the sign of the Cross appeared in dazzling light, radiating more than the sun rays, and was visible from the Horrendous Golgotha to the Mount of Olives. All the inhabitants of Jerusalem saw it and came out from their houses.

Ambassador Cohen was welcomed by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, with whom they had wholehearted talks on, among other things, the role and the work of the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria on the African Continent.

On the Paschal night of May 2, 2021, the festive divine service was celebrated in the church of the Dormition in Beijing. The Midnight Office, Matins preceded by a procession with the cross and the Divine Liturgy were celebrated by the rector of the church, Hieromonk Innokenty (Kolesnikov). The parish choir was conducted by Ms. O. Pimenova.

On Sunday of Thomas, 26 April/9 May 2021, our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos officiated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of the Shrine in Cana of Galilee. The Divine Liturgy was observed in commemoration that Thomas touched the Lord’s side and the miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana.
