Patriarch Kirill becomes honorary Doctor in Nuclear University

Academic board of the National Research Nuclear University (MIFI) named Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia its honorary doctor. The diploma was given to Patriarch Kirill at a festival ceremony in the institute assembly hall after the Russian Church Primate consecrated the University's home church dedicated to the Mother of God of Smolensk.

According to an Interfax-Religion correspondent, students put a violet academic gown with golden fringe and traditional doctor's bonnet on Patriarch Kirill. MIFI professors and students who attended the ceremony welcomed symbolic vestment of the Patriarch with a storm of applause.

After the ceremony, Patriarch Kirill awarded MIFI Rector Mikhail Strikhanov the order of St. Daniel of Moscow, third degree.
