On Saturday, the 22nd of November/5th of December 2015, a group of peace activists led by Mr Lee Man-Hee, visited the Patriarchate. They were courteously welcomed by Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem and Hagiotaphite Fathers.

The head of the group told His Beatitude that His personal endeavours for peace are well-known, and that is why they had wished to visit Him and learn of the Patriarchate from Him.

In response, the Patriarch talked to the peace activists visiting from Korea on the religious and peace-making work of the Patriarchate through the centuries to the present day when unprecedented, hideous crimes are being committed against innocent people, women, children, the ailing and the weak.

Then, wishing that their peace-making work be fruitful, Patriarch Theophilos quoted the Lord’s words: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God”. Asked about Christian Scriptures, His Beatitude said that the Holy Scriptures are common for all Christians, but their interpretation varies.

On the difference between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Church, Patriarch Theophilos sad that the greatest difference is not the Pope as a person, but the institution of Papism.

On the significance of Orthodoxy, His Beatitude pointed out that the term derives from the Greek words orthi doxa, namely “sound doctrine”, Sound Worship of the real Triadic God within us.
