Prayer and the joy of meeting of two people

At Jatarice in Mokra Gora, last Saturday on All Souls Day, the Russian memorial chapel of St. Andrei The First-Called was consecrated,  built in a spirit of the ancient Russian architecture. The memorial chapel is dedicated to the Russian and Italian prisoners, died in an collapsed tunnel of Budim in 1916 at the Austro-Hungarian route of the railway via Shargan, as well as builders from Russia who participated in the construction of the Shargan eight in the period of 1921-1925.

The chapel was done with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kyrril of Moscow and All Russia and His Grace Bishop Hrizostom of Zica. His Grace Bishop Hrizostom in his sermon after the consecration reminded of the suffering of the prisoners who remained buried in the tunned in 1916 during the Austro-Hungarian ocupation comparing their faith with the martyr of Ephesos.

Vicar Bishop of the Patriarch Kyrril of Moscow, Bishop Sava conveyed a blessing from the Russian first hierarch and said that although it was a sad meeting in Mokra Gora for the remembrance of the suffering of the Russian and Italian prisoners, it is also a joyful place of the meeting of two people - Russian and Serbian - and the Churches which mantain brotherly relationship for centuries.

The prayer for the repose of the souls of the Russian prisoners during cold and rainy weather beside the hosts there was about 150 Russian citizens who were also present a day earlier at the event of giving the Russian bells to the monastery of Milesevo. On behalf of the Russian state at the meeting in Mokra Gora words of welcome was said by His Excellency Mr. Alexander Konuzin, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, who at first thanked the displaced Russians who came to Serbia because of the tragic events and who participated in the construction of the railway since 1921. In the diaspora, they were most warmly welcomed and receieved  in Serbia.

On the behalf of the city of Uzice the event was attended by its mayor Jovan Markovic, the president of the City Assembly Radisa Marjanovic and deputy mayor Milovan Petrovic.
