President Aleksandar Vucic celebrated his Patron Saint-day at the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow
Within the two-day visit to the Russian Federation, President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vucic visited also the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow, where he celebrated his family’s Patron Saint-day – Saint Nicholas of Myra, the Wonderworker.
The rite of blessing the slava wheat and slava cake was performed by His Grace Bishop Antonije of Moravica, Vicar of the Patriarch and the head of the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, in the church of St. Peter and Paul the Apostles.
Replying to President Vucic’s question about a work of the Representation, Bishop Antonije said that it has been working since 2002 and that it was opened primarily because of the need that our people, then more than 20000, can have their church where they would participate at the services and mark their Patron Saint-day, since this rite is related only to the Serbian Orthodox Church. Bishop Antonije congratulated Vucic his family’s Patron Saint-day.
As a memory of this event, Bishop Antonije gave to President Vucic an icon of Saint Nicholas as a gift, while Vucic gave him in turn a book “Collection of Serbian monasteries”.
After the rite in the church, there was a reception at the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church which was attended, beside President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, also by Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vulin, Minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Nenad Popovic, Ambassador of Serbian to Moscow Slavenko Terzic, PhD; and military attaché in the Russian Federation Colonel Budimir Gajic.
