President Tadic visits Monastery of Piva

President of the Republic of Serbia Boris Tadic, during the official visit to Montenegro, on Friday, July 9 in the monastery of Piva was welcomed by His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje and Niksic.

After the visit to the village of Piva, a homeland of his ancestors and the birthplace of his father Ljubomir, the president of Serbia Boris Tadic visited shortly a monastery of Piva. The president was welcomed there by His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje and Niksic with a hieromonk Nikifor, heugomen and many priests, president of the Municipality of Pluzine Mijusko Bajagic, businessmen of this area and locals of Piva. His Grace Bishop Joanikije wished a welcome to President Tadic, expressing a hope that his visit to Montenegro would open a new page in relations of two states.

President Boris Tadic thanked for the welcome aslo pointing out that for him it was a great moment to visit the monastery of Piva in which books were written first words about his family.

Heugomen, hieromonk Nikifor spoke about the history of the monastery of Piva and relics, which were kept in its treasury. On this occasion Tadic was given as a gift an icon of St. John the Baptist, with a hymn written with the Cyrillic script, the work of the sisterhood of the monastery of St. Luke of Zupa of Niksic.
