President Trump congratulates Diocese of Eastern America
The President of the United States of America offered his congratulations in a letter of April 14, 2019 to the Diocese of Eastern America, which is headed by His Grace Bishop Irinej (Dobrijevic), on the 800th Anniversary of the Autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
“Dear Friends, Melania and I send our warmest greetings to the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America in celebration of your 800th Anniversary.” The President continued by noting: “We are grateful for the many years your Diocese has served it people.”
Comparing values held in common by the Serbian Orthodox Church and the United States, he expounded: “Our Nation has a long history of drawing strength from faith, and I commend your efforts to instill the values our Nation holds dear.”
“Your diocese has provided places of comfort and healing, as well as great joy, fellowship and peace in many communities. Your diocese is central to life’s most meaningful moments and milestones”, wrote the 45th President of the United States of America.
“As you reflect on the many memories you have made together, may you continue to uplift all who enter and remain a place of service to God and country”, concluded President Donald Trump.
The Diocese of Eastern America will officially celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the Autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church, on the day of the 130th Anniversary of the birth of St. Mardarije of Libertyville and All-America, at the St. Sava Cathedral in Boston, November 1st – 2nd, 2019.
