Last month, on April 21-22, 2012 for the eleventh time in New York City the day of the uprising of the Jasenovac prisoners was marked, who decided sixty and seven years ago to give their lives and barehanded faced with their executioners. The marking of this day in New York City was established by the Institute for Jasenovac research, and it went along with the cooperation with the Church-school community and at the premises of St. Sava church, which became the Cathedral church of the East American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church.  Обележавање овог дана у Њујорку је установио Институт за истраживање

By the same initiative, in New York's Holocaust memorial park the monument to the Jasenovac victims was raised and for several years Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg established Apri 22 as the Jasenovac Day in New York City.

For the first time this year the Remembrance Day of Jasenovac victims was held in the organization of New York's church-school community, with the Institute for Jasenovac research as the co-organizer. As the Coordinator of the Committee for Jasenovac of the Holy Assembly of Bishops, the Holy Synod of Bishops sent envoy Bishop Jovan of Lipljan as a sign of the support for this event which is unique beyond Serbian lands and the region of ex-Yugoslavia.

This year's marking began on April 21 with the Vigil service and the memorial service which was served by Bishop Jovan of Lipljan with the blessing of BIshop Mitrophan of East America.

The marking was continued on St. Thomas Sunday with the Divine Liturgy, when was the movie of Sima Brdar about the Cadik Danon, one of the survived prisoners of Jasenovac.
