Royal Couple attend 100th Anniversary of St. George church in Shererville, Indiana
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended over the weekend 100th Anniversary of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Schererville, Indiana. Celebration that took place on Saturday and Sunday was also attended by H.E. Mr. Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, and Mr. Desko Nikitovic, Serbian Consul General in Chicago.
Besides the Royal Couple, President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and Serbian Consul General Desko Nikitovic, who were the guests of honour, dinner was also attended by Mr. Ray Vukas, president of St. George parish and Very Rev. Dobrivoje Milunovic, together with famous Serbian opera Diva Jadranka Jovanovic, and Professor Nikola Rackov.
After the dinner, guests enjoyed wonderful program performed by Tromedja Folklore Group of Schererville and St. Elijah Folklore Group of Merrillville, Indiana. Ms. Jadranka Jovanovic took part in the program, as well.
On Sunday, Their Royal Highnesses attended the Divine Liturgy, where they were enthusiastically greeted by almost eight hundred elated parishioners attending the ceremony.
St. George Parish and church-school organization was founded in 1911, in East Chicago, Indiana by the early settlers from Serbian countries. In 1980, dedicated members and parishioners erected a new magnificent church in Schererville, IN.
