On the day when the entire Serbian Nation celebrated its First Archbishop and Illuminator Sava, January 27th, parishioners of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona, with great joy and happiness celebrated the feast of their Patron Saint, led by their Hierarch His Grace Bishop Maxim and Parish Priest Proto-Stavrophor Fr. Dragomir Tuba.

The all-day celebration started with welcoming His Grace by our Church’s beautiful front entrance gate, where he was met by 7-year-old Jelena Beric, who presented him with a bouquet of flowers.

Over the weekend of February 2-3, 2019, the St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church community of Washington, DC celebrated St. Sava in a spectacular fashion. 

This two-day celebration was one for the history books in this parish, as it was dually the largest event the St. Luke parish has hosted in many years and the first time that allSerbian organizations in the greater Washington area came together to celebrate St. Sava in at least nine years.

The Serbian Orthodox Church of St. George in Cincinnati, Ohio has once again traditionally celebrated Saint Sava. Our people who live far from their homeland have proved once again that they unselfishly preserve the tradition of Saint Sava. Saint Sava, the founder of education and the first Serbian archbishop, is one of the most important figures of Serbian history and is celebrated on January 27th.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of Saint Demetrius in New Belgrade on 10th February 2019.

The Patriarch was concelebrated by protopresbyter-staurophors Rajko Nedic and Predrag Micic, protopresbyter Vladimir Zamahajev, presbyter Stefan Vasiljevic, archdeacon Marko (Momcilovic), as well as deacons Ilija Tomic and Dragan Tanasijevic.

Commemoration of Saint Sava in Cambridge University

 Ever since the beautiful tradition of commemorating Saint Sava, the first Serbian Archbishop and Enlightener began at the eminent University at Cambridge, with the blessing of His Grace, the Right Reverend Bishop Dositej, diocese of Great Britain and Scandinavia, pastoral relations towards the Serbian students have continued, through the ministry of the clergy, of the deanery of Great Britain and Ireland.

On Sunday, 27th January 2019, with the blessing of His Grace, the Right Reverend Dositej, protopresbyter-stavrophore Aleksandar Ilic, of Saint John the Baptist parish in Halifax, visited the Serbian students at Cambridge University. Some students attended the church and Sunday School patronal commemoration at Saint Sava church in London.

On the feast day of Saint Sava, His Grace Bishop Grigorije of Dusseldorf and Germany served the Holy Liturgy in Cathedral Church of Saint Sava in Dusseldorf.

After the Liturgy, since Saint Sava is also the Patron Saint of the Church community of Dusseldorf, a slava cake was cut and a solemn culture and art program was held.
