Serbian Patriarch in Kitchener
26. June 2015 - 8:50On Monday, June 22, 2015 His Holiness Serbian Patriarch and administrator of the Diocese of Canada met with the Toronto clergy and surrounding areas.
Accompanying the Serbian Patriarch was Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America, as well as V. Rev. Vasilje Tomic, Episcopal Deputy, and Protodeacon Damjan Bozic. The meeting was held at the Holy Trinity Serbian Church in Kitchener. The meeting was conducted in a spirit of unity and love mutual respect.
Patriarch Irinej at Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Hamilton
25. June 2015 - 9:35The Serbian Patriarch, His Holiness Irinej, administrator of the Diocese of Canada visited on Sunday, June 21 the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Hamilton.
There are two church-school congregations in this city and three parishes. This church, on Nash Street and dedicated to St. Nicholas is proclaimed a cathedral church. Bishop Georgije was enthroned in this church as bishop of Canada on the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in 1984.
Nine Hundred Welcomed Patriarch in Hamilton
24. June 2015 - 10:00His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, administrator of the Diocese of Canada, visited St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Hamilton on Barton Street.
St. Nicholas Church is the spiritual nucleus of the oldest Serbian Orthodox parish in east Canada. Serbs began to settle in Hamilton already in 1904. At the initiative of a group of Serbs, mostly from the former Austro-Hungarian empire, a parish was formed in 1913. The parish was founded under the auspices of the Russian Orthodox Church, but it came under the jurisdiction of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 1920.
Serbian Patriarch Serves Liturgy in Mississauga
24. June 2015 - 9:57On Saturday, June 20, 2015 His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej visited the Serbian community in Mississauga.
Many of the faithful gathered in front of the church before the liturgy, that they might welcome their Patriarch and received his blessing. The Holy Hierarchical Liturgy was served by two hierarchs of our holy Church: Serbian Patriarch Irinej and His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America. Concelebrating with them were clergy from metro Toronto: V. Rev. Stavrophor Vasilije Tomic, Episcopal Deputy, V. Rev. Stavrophor Lazar Vukojev, V. Rev. Stavrophor Milutin Veljkov, V. Rev. Stavrophor Prvoslav Puric, V. Rev. Stavrophor Dragoslav Ninkovic, V. Rev. Stavrophor Milojko Dimitric, Protosindjel Vasilije (Gavrilovic) and Protodeacon Damjan Bozic and Deacon Djuradj Kojic.
Parastos in memory of Bishop Sava (Vukovic)
24. June 2015 - 9:55On the Third Sunday of Pentecost the annual Parastos was offered in memory of Bishop Sava (Vukovic) at New Marcha Monastery in Richfield, Ohio, the founder of this holy monastery. Besides the sisterhood of the monastery, attending the Parastos, served by Hieromonk Platon (Jovic), were friends and spiritual children of Bishop Sava of blessed repose, among whom was also Nikola Borota, one of the bishop's closest and hardest worker during his tenure as bishop of Eastern America.
Serbian Patriarch Irinej and Metropolitan Sotirios of Canada
22. June 2015 - 13:53His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, administrator of the Diocese of Canada, visited His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios of Canada and the residence of the Metropolis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Toronto.
Accompanying His Holiness were His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America, V. Rev. Vasilije Tomic, Episcopal Deputy and parish priest in north Toronto, Protosindjel Vasilije (Gavrilovic), abbot of the Transfiguration Monastery in Milton, Protodeacon Damjan Bozic from Belgrade, and Milan Lesic, president of the St. George church-school congregation in Waterloo. His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej and those accompanying him were warmly received by His Eminence Archbishop of Toronto and Metropolitan of Canada Sotirios, together with the Vicar Bishop Christopher of Andida. The Greek Orthodox Church in Canada is the largest Orthodox jurisdiction. Since Metropolitan Sotirios arrived in 1982 to this day the number of churches has increased from 22 to 74.
