21st Church Assembly of the SOC in North and South America: Day 1

The 21st Church Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America officiall began Tuesday, August 5, 2014 with the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the Invocation of the Holy Spirit following liturgy.

Clergy and delegates arrive and register for 21st Church Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America

 The 21^st Church Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America is set to begin on August 4^th, 2014 at St. Steven’s Serbian Orthodox Church in Alhambra, California. The Assembly brings together the hierarchs, clergy, congregation board presidents and congregation delegates from all five dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America.

The last Assembly was held in August of 2009 at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Canton, OH. Monday’s activities centered around registration of delegates, the Clergy Seminar and the annual meeting of the Serbian Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood.

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received Monsignor Orlando Antonini, Apostolic Nuncio in Belgrade at the Serbian Patriarchate on 4 August 2014. 

Bishop Justin of Zica enthroned

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, introduced Bishop Justin (Stefanovic), former Bishop of Timok, into the throne of Bishops of Zica during the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the church of Saint Sava in Kraljevo, on August 3^rd 2014.

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej celebrated along with enthroned Bishop Justin and Their Eminences Metropolitans Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana, Their Graces Bishops: Irinej of Backa, Pahomije of Vranje, Jovan of Sumadija, Ignjatije of Branicevo, Atansije of Bihac-Petrovac, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, David of Krusevac, elected Jovan of Slavonia and retired Atanasije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina. Also Archimandrites, newly-elected Bishops concelebrated to the Patriarch: Ilarion of Timok, Arsenije of Toplica and Jeronim of Jegar. Their Graces Bishops: Vasilije of Srem, Nikanor of Banat, Milutin of Valjevo, Antonije of Moravica and retired Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla prayerfully participated in this Holy Liturgy.
