Blessing of students of grammar schools from Budapest and Zemun

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received on March 14, 2012 at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade the pupils of the Serbian grammar school Nikola Tesla from Budapest and and the Zemun grammar school with their directors Mrs. Jovanka Lastic and Mr. Milos Bjelanovic. 

Metropolitan Amfilohije in Athens

His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral kyr Amfilohije participated yesterday in the funeral of heugomene Justina, who was the head of the monastery of Holy Trinity in Koropi near Athens for many years.

His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno served yesterday on March 14, 2012 the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the church of St. Petka on Cukarica.

Patriarch Irinej on the significance of the Liturgy

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served on the Second Sunday of the Lent the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in the church of St. Basil of Ostrog on Banjica. He was concelebrated by the brotherhood of the church with the chanting of the choir. After the Holy Communion Patriarch held a sermon on the significance of the liturgical gathering, about the greatness of Christ's forgiveness, and about the a beneficial influence of the Lent on man's spirit.

Serbian Monasteries in Kosovo among five most holy sites in the Mediterranean

The Serbian monasteries in Kosovo were listed among  the five most important sacred places in the Mediterranean. The monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija are pronounced as the places of worship of the utmost importance along with Jerusalem, Mount Athos, Mecca and the Vatican.

The decision on importance of the Serbian monasteries in Kosovo was rendered at an EU meeting in Brussels attended by European Commission President José Manuel Barroso. Barroso underlined the need for special protection of the Serbian holy places in Kosovo, adding the monasteries should be a source of inter-cultural dialogue, rather than conflict.
