His Grace our Bishop Irinej, together with the Federation of the Circles of Serbian Sisters one in common to both our Serbian Orthodox Dioceses in Australia and New Zealand, most cordially invite all of our Serbian children and their friends to come together for an enjoyable week of prayer, classes, art, sports, fun and good food at our holy Monastery!

Anniversary of St. Basil of Ostrog parish and visit of the Karadjordjevic family

On Sunday, October 17th, 2010 Saint Basil of Ostrog parish in Lake Forest IL celebrated eleventh anniversary of its consecration. Divine Liturgy was served by Bishop Longin, accompanied by Fr. Djuro Krosnjar, priest of St. Basil's parish, and a few other priests and deacons. Also present at the Liturgy were Their Royal Highnesses, Crowned Prince Alexander and Princess Katherine Karadjordjevic. Within the festivities at the parish, Princess Katherine spoke about the Lifeline organization through which many Serbian orphans are being helped.

German Catholic Church returns looted cross to Serbia

The Catholic Church in Germany returned a looted gold cross to Serbia on Tuesday, 65 years after it was stolen from an Orthodox monastery by an unidentified German soldier.

Hans-Josef Becker, archbishop of Paderborn, handed over the cross at the Serbian embassy in Berlin, an embassy spokeswoman said.

The treasure is a gilded cross with a base so it can stand upright on a table and a hollow space for a religious relic.

Celebration of St. Thomas Day in Belgrade and commemoration to Ilija Kolarac

His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, vicar of Serbian Patriarch, served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy on the occasion of the Patron's feast day of the church St. Thomas the Apostle on the New graveyard of Bezanija, and after that he served a commemoration in the Cathedral church to the great people's benefactor - Ilija Milosavljevic Kolarac.

His Grace Bishop Dr. Atanasije (Jevtic) to Visit Chicago Cathedral

His Grace retired bishop of Zahum and Hercegovina Dr. Atanasije will visit Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago on Friday, October 29, 2010.

On that occasion, His Grace will deliver a lecture on the theme "FROM REVELATION TO CHURCH: The Truths of the Gospel in the life of the Church and of the Christians in the Church." The lecture will be held in the large hall of the Cathedral beginning at 7:00 PM.

On a chilly Saturday morning on October 2, 2010, a small group of our parishioners gathered at St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago in order to support the endeavors of IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) humanitarian organization.
