Slava of the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi

The church slava of the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi, seat of the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic, which church is devoted to St. Great Martyr George, began on the Eve of the feast on Saturday, May 5, with the solemn vigil service. The service was held by His Grace Bishop Jovan of Lipljan, vicar of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch with the concelebration of many priests. The vigil service was attended by His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, who addressed the present. 

After the vigil service in the Monastery there was a solem St. George's Day academy on the occasion of 150 years since the suffering of Djurdjevi Stupovi, which were destroyed in 1862, about which was said by Professor Dr. Zdravko Deletci.

On the feast of  Holy Great Martyr George the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was served by Their Graces Bishops Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic and Jovan of Lipljan. Lots of citizens of Berane attended the service, including the Ambassador of Serbia in Montenegro Mr. Zoran Lutovac. The slava cake was blessed and cut.

After the service of God St. George's Day celebration was held and the host was Mr. Nebojsa Djukic.

After the vigil service, the traditional St. George's Day procession went through the centre of Berane. Lots of believers, priests and monks from all our Diocese participated in the procession.
