Patriarch Irinej visited the Serbian School of St. Sava in Johannesburg
4. November 2018 - 0:29On November 3, 2018, His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej visited the "Saint Sava" school that works within the Serbian Orthodox Church-School Community in Johannesburg, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia.
At the moment some 30 pupils attend this school, that has a department in Pretoria, the capital of the South African Republic, as well. Accompanied by Bishop Jovan of Sumadija, hieromonk Dositej of Chilandar and other members of the delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Patriarch met with the pupils and the class master Ms. Violeta Pavlovic Marinovic.
Statement on the Recent Attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA

November 2018 - 11:55The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America expresses its deep sympathies as we mourn the loss of innocent lives and pray for the speedy recovery of those wounded in the recent attack on the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Remembering the Message from our Assembly meeting just last month, we reiterate our “denunciation of all violence, whether caused by senseless acts related to weapons and shootings or instigated by abhorrent acts of discrimination and prejudice.”
Presentation on Serbian Culture at Akron University

November 2018 - 10:48With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej, and through the efforts of Dr. Vanja Zoric, Akron University hosted the traveling visual-literary exhibition, “Over There, So Far Away”. This presentation was planned through the combined efforts of Protonamesnik Dragan Goronjic, Dean of the Cleveland Deanery and parish priest at St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church, and Protonamesnik Aleksa Pavichevich, parish priest of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.
The Serbian Patriarch consecrated a church in Botswana
28. October 2018 - 8:33His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej celebrated on October 27, 2018, on the feast-day of the Venerable Mother St. Paraseceva, a new church dedicated to the first Serbian Archbishop, St. Sava in Gaborone, capital city of the state of Botswana.
During the First Divine Liturgy in the newly-consecrated church His Holiness the Patriarch was concelebrated by the His Excellency Metropolitan Genadios of Gaborone and Botswana - from the Patriarchate of Alexandria and by members of the delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church: His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija, archpriest-stavrophor Dragi Veskovac, hieromonk Amvrosije Vesic as well as by other clerics, in the presence of the Serbian ambassador in the South African Republic Bozin Nikolic and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Botswana Viktor Sibilov, Consul of the Embassy of Serbia in Pretoria Sasha Mart and a large number of Serbs living and working in that part of Africa. The founders of the St. Sava church in Gaborone are Mr. Milivoje Nikolic and his wife Linet, who donated a plot for the construction of the church.
