Ambassador of Belarus аwarded by the Serbian Church
2. June 2017 - 22:51His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej presented the Ambassador of Belarus in Belgrade Vladimir Chushev Order of St. Sava second degree at a reception held at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 31 May 2017.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Holy Synod of Bishops: His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana, and Their Graces Bishops: Justin of Zicha, Fotije of Dalmatia and Milutin of Valjevo as well as by the Bishop electus Nikodim of Dalmatia. The decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops, which was read during the ceremony by the General Secretary of the Holy Synod Archpriest-Stavrophor Dr. Savo Jovic, pointed put that the high award of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Order of St. Sava,was being handed in to His Excellency Vladimir Nikolayevich Chushev, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in Belgrade, for his active love towards the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian people, demonstrated in particular in his wholehearted commitment to the strengthening of relations between Serbia and Belarus.
The Patriarch received the Ambassador of Serbia to the Vatican
2. June 2017 - 15:12His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received His Excellency Dejan Sahovic, the new elected Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Holy See, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 1 June 2017.
His Excellency Sahovic expressed gratitude to the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the cordial reception during which they discussed various aspects of relations between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. The Serbian Patriarch Irinej thanked the distinguished guest for the visit and wished him all the best from the Lord in his diplomatic mission. The reception was attended by the General Secretary of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic.
The Patriarch received the Ambassador of Norway
2. June 2017 - 15:21His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received His Excellency Mr. Arne Bjornstad Sanes, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 1 June 2017.
His Excellency Bjornstad expressed his gratitude to the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the cordial reception during which they considered preparations for the upcoming visit of the representatives of the Church of Norway to Serbia. The Serbian Patriarch thanked the distinguished guests for the visit, wishing him abundant blessings from the Lord in his diplomatic mission. The reception was attended by colleagues of the Ambassador and the General Secretary of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, deacon Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic.
The Patriarch received students of the High Security Studies
2. June 2017 - 15:25His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received the 6th class students of the High Security and Defense Studies at the National Defense School of the Military Academy; the meeting took place at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 1 June 2017.
Students of high security and defense studies expressed their gratitude to the Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the cordial reception during which they considered various challenges facing the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the cooperation of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Army of Serbia.
The Opening of the Relics of Our Father Among the Saints Mardarije First Serbian Bishop of America and Canada

May 2017 - 15:36With the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Longin of New Gracanica and Midwestern America, the relics of St. Mardarije, which have laid in the Church of St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville, Illinois, since his internment in December 1935, were uncovered. The opening revealed St. Mardarije’s holy relics to be incorrupt.
On Thursday, May 4, 2017, His Grace Bishop Longin served Divine Liturgy at St. Sava Monastery with Sindjel Serafim (Milojkovic), Priest Nikolaj Kostur and Hierodeacon Nektarije (Tesanovic), in preparation for uncovering the relics. Following the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Longin and the other clergy served a Moleban with the Akathist written to St. Mardarije. Upon completion, the crew organized to remove the tombstone and flooring in order to exhume the relics arrived, under the guidance of Mr. Dusan Djordjevic of Sveta Gora Funeral Home in Chicago. After removal of the stone, it was revealed that the casket of St. Mardarije was in a cement vault. This caused the opening to be delayed one additional day in order to organize a team to open the vault.
