German Catholic Church returns looted cross to Serbia

The Catholic Church in Germany returned a looted gold cross to Serbia on Tuesday, 65 years after it was stolen from an Orthodox monastery
by an unidentified German soldier.
Hans-Josef Becker, archbishop of Paderborn, handed over the cross at the Serbian embassy in Berlin, an embassy spokeswoman said.
The treasure is a gilded cross with a base so it can stand upright on a table and a hollow space for a religious relic.

His Grace retired bishop of Zahum and Hercegovina Dr. Atanasije will visit Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago on Friday, October 29, 2010.
On that occasion, His Grace will deliver a lecture on the theme "FROM REVELATION TO CHURCH: The Truths of the Gospel in the life of the Church and of the Christians in the Church." The lecture will be held in the large hall of the Cathedral beginning at 7:00 PM.

With the blessings of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, administrator of the Metropolitanate of Libertyville-Chicago, the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy and Inv ocation of the Holy Spirit was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwestern America with the concelebration of episcopal deputy Very Reverend Fr. Dennis Pavichevich, Cathedral dean Reverend Fr. Darko Spasojevic, Reverend Fr. Radovan Jakovljevic, Reverend Fr. Vasilije Vranic, Protodeacon Fr. Milovan Gogic, and Deacon Fr. Damjan Bozic.
