Patron Saint's Day of the Church of St. Elijah the Prophet in Mirijevo

The church of St. Elijah the Prophet in Mirijevo was built in 1834 with the material taken from ruins of the Slanci monastery and belongs to the oldest churches of Belgrade. It celebrated for the 176th time its Patron Saint's Day. On this occasion in  the full church and its courtyard, on behalf of His Holiness, IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, Vicar of the Serbian Patriarch with the concelebration of priests and deacons of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac.

His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch on the feast day of Saint Despot Stephen Lazarevic and his mother Saint Eugenia served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of Saint Marco in Belgrade with the concelebration of priests and deacons of this holy temple.

Renowned Orthodox Theologian And Philosopher To Speak At Chicago Cathedral

Renowned Orthodox theologian, professor, and philosopher Dr. Christos Yannaras of Athens, Greece, will speak to parishioners and guests of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, September 25th, 2010, as part of a week of events celebrating the blessing of the Cathedral frescos.

Dr. Yannaras, author of more than 30 books and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, "has been for several decades one of the most prolific, original, and contemporary Orthodox writers in Greece... [and] perhaps one of the most significant Christian philosophers in Europe," according to Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury.

Feast Day of Saint Pantaleon formally celebrated in Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac

Our Holy Church yesterday celebrated one of the most wonderful and most loved God's pleaser, Saint Great Martyr Pantaleon. Lots of Belgraders gathered in this beautiful church under construction in New Mirijevo dedicated to this great Saint. On behalf of His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch the Divine Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Atanasije with the concelebration of 4 priests and 3 deacons.

Prayerful remembrance of the suffered in Operation Storm

   

His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch served today the memorial service to the suffered 15 years ago in the Croatian operation Storm. The memorial service was attended by President of Serbia Mr. Boris Tadic, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, members of the family of the killed as well as more than hundred exiled and fled from their centuries-old homes.
