State Duma MPs to consult the Patriarchate before adopting drafts

The United Russia political party plans to involve the Moscow Patriarchate in legislative work. "We agreed we would show the Patriarchate the State Duma's plan for legislative work and hold preliminary consultations on all questions that may raise doubts to avoid mutual misunderstanding," Deputy Secretary of the Party's General Council Presidium and Head of the State Duma Labor and Social Policy Committee Andrey Isayev told Interfax-Religion.

Thus, the MP commented on results of the today's meeting with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, which he attended together with the Presidium Secretary and Vice Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

At the meeting, Patriarch Kirill expressed his concerns about possible introduction of sexual education in Russian school curriculum and juvenile justice. The Party members assured the Patriarch they would oppose such interpretation of the European Social Charter ratified in Russia on May 20.
