Sympathy of the Serbian Patriarch to the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church

His Holiness Patriarch Irinej sent a telegram of the following content to His Beatitude Hieronymus, Archbishop of Athens:

Yours Beatitude, Beloved Brother in Christ,

Deep in our souls We, with all the pleroma of our Church, share the sadness and pain of You personally, of the Church of Greece and the brotherly Greek people, caused by terrible fire and destruction of homes and property, but above all because of the loss of human lives. We pray to the Lord for the repose of souls of the victims. We assure You that we shall aid as much as we can.

Appeal from Kosovo and Metohija by bishop Teodosije

Appeal from Kosovo and Metohija by bishop Teodosije - regarding the statements of some politicians about the partition of Kosovo as the final solution

As a Bishop of Raška and Prizren and an Archpastor of the Orthodox Christians in the regions of Kosovo, Metohija and Raška, with tremendous pastoral and moral responsibility I feel the need to express my grave concern regarding a series of political statements on Kosovo-Metohija in the recent time which fill our hearts with increasing uncertainty and disquiet. For almost twenty years our Diocese supported by our Patriarch and our fellow Bishops, and with financial assistance of the Government of Republic of Serbia and other local and international donors, makes tremendous efforts to provide normal life for our Church, the reconstruction of our destroyed holy sites, the return of our displaced people, as well as the peaceful life of those who still continue to live in this region. Inspired with this concern and the ongoing dialog between Belgrade and Priština in Brussels the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the SOC expressed a clear, unified and unequivocal position in its statement on 10 May 2018.

Press Release from the Office of the Serbian Patriarch

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, deeply shaken by the fire that has struck the brotherly Greek people on the peninsula of Attica and has taken dozens of human lives, prays to the Lord to preserve the people in the fire-endangered areas.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church offers prayers to the Lord that He may encourage the members of the services that have been bravely fighting against the disaster and grant them strength and success in their fight,  speedy recovery to the wounded ones, repose to the souls of the victims, and comfort to their relatives.
