SVS faculty footprints: spring semester 2009

The faculty of St. Vladimir's Seminary (SVS) serve the Orthodox Christian Church worldwide through their research, teaching, writing, and membership in various church ministries. Their activities throughout the globe-which include everything from presenting retreats at local parishes in the U.S. to witnessing to their faith at ecumenical venues-leave memorable "footprints," as they spread the message of Christ crucified and continue to follow his path.

February footprints

Most recently, on February 7, 2009, SVS Chancellor Archpriest Chad Hatfield delivered the homily during a worship service at St. Nicholas Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in New York City. Portions of the service were taken from Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil, sung by the The Canticum Novum Singers under the direction of Mr. Nicholas Reeves. Proceeds from that event went to benefit Emmaus House, a Harlem based not-for-profit shelter and rehabilitation center. On that same date, The V. Rev. Dr. Paul Nadim Tarazi, Professor in Old Testament, was at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Los Angeles, CA, presenting a lecture titled "St. Paul: Apostle to the Gentiles." Additionally, Dr. Peter C. Bouteneff, Associate Professor in Systematic Theology, has begun co-teaching a Thursday evening course, which will run through February, at B'nai Jeshurun in New York City; the course is titled "A Parting of the Ways? Christians and Jews in the Early Centuries of Our Era."
