Thanksgiving at the beginning of New Year in Podgorica

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and Archbishop of Cetinje , Locum tenens of the throne of the Serbian patriarchs, served with the priests at midnight in front of the church of St. George under Gorica in Podgorica a fervent prayer for the new summer of the goodness of the Lord.

The fervent prayer was attended by thousands of Orthodox believers gathered at the organized celebration of Orthodox New Year which, by the tradition, and this time was prepared by the Church community of Podgorica.

At the celebration in front of the St. George church in Podgorica, the gathered people, most of whom were young people, previously were entertained by the trumpeters from Guca, the band "Legends", and singers of the folk music from Montenegro.

At midnight there was a magnificent fireworks display.
