Together through centuries

Collection “Together through Centuries”: contributions to history of the Russian-Serbian cultural, spiritual and political connections.

The collection “Together through Centuries” is a work in Russian and Serbian scholars, and it was presented on 4 October 2017 at the Russian Cultural Centre in Belgrade. The event dedicated to of cultural and spiritual ties of Russia and Serbia was opened by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, who thanked for all the efforts that this Collection had been prepared and published, and reminded of the unbreakable ties of two brotherly peoples, of the same faith and the same blood.

In the Collection there are, among others, following works: Eminent Serbs under the Shield of Alexander Nevsky by Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic; The Serbian Orthodox Church and the Famine in the USSR from 1921-1923 by Radovan Pilipovic, MSc, Director of the Archives of the Serbian Orthodox Church; The Serbian-Russian Relations in the Past and Today –Ethnological and Anthropological Review on Some Ideas and Problems (with the Emphasis on the Spiritual Sphere) by Ivica Todorovic, PhD; A Blessed Presence of Russia in the Serbian Church and the Serbian People in Montenegro by ALeksandar Vujovic, MSc (Seminary of Saint Peter of Cetinje and editor of the catechism program of Radio Svetigora); Significance of the Letter of Serbian Leaders for Church-school Autonomy in Bosnia and Herzegovina sent to the Russian Tsar in 1902 by Bosko M. Brankovic, PhD in History; The Relations of the Serbian Royal Dynasty of Karadjordjevic with Imperial Dynasty of Romanov before the First World War by L.V. Kuzmiceva; and many other works.

The Collection Together through Centuries is enriched with contributions from the exhibition that was organized in Russia by the Archives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, from the consecration of the Precious Cross for a new church of Saint Prince Lazar with a side chapel to Tsar Nicholas II Romanov, as well as with contributions from cultural evenings in which the Serbian culture was presented with songs and dances, also contributions from scientific meetings.

The solemn promotion of this Collection was attended by Colonel Sasa Milutinovic, PhD, head of the Department for Faith at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia; Predrag Miodrag, PhD, professor at the Seminary of Saint Arsenije of Srem; protopresbyter Vitaly Tarasyev, dean of the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Belgrade; priest Ivan Jancic, principal of the church of Saint Basil of Ostrog in Sabac, and by many other eminent persons from public and cultural life.
