Vidovdan celebrations in Osnabrück
The Vidovdan celebrations took place in the parish of the Holy Great Martyr George in Osnabrück on June 24, 2017.
His Eminence Bishop of Frankfurt and all Germany and elected Bishop of Bihac-Petrovac Sergije officiated the Eucharistic gathering. Protopresbyters-stavrophors Jovan Maric from Wuppertal and Marinko Rajak from Osnabrük, Archpriest Bogdan Smiljic from Bielefeld, Mihailo Stojcic from Altena and Sinisa Vujasinovic from Hamburg, protodean Dragan Colakovic from Essen and protodeacon Milutin Maric concelebrated.
The Bishop reminded the present faithful of the significance of the Vidovdan feast: -Vidovdan (St.Vitus Day) has continually sent a message to us which is actually our exam: - Which kingdom do we accept, the earthly or the heavenly one? Either we accept the Heavenly Kingdom following the example of the Holy Prince Lazarus or the earthly kingdom that is temporary whereas the Heavenly Kingdom lasts forever.
After the Liturgy, a traditional procession was arranged to the Serbian military cemetery, where a parastasis, a commemoration rite was held for all the fallen ones since the Kosovo battle up to present tiomes. During the formal academy Bishop Sergije held a special lecture on the topic of the Kosovo Covenant.
The meeting was attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia, Natasa Rasevic, consul Milorad Avramovic from Hamburg and Military Attaché of the Republic of Serbia, Dejan Cimbaljevic from Berlin.
