Welcome of The New Year of Our Lord 2009

On occasion of a welcome of the New Year 2009, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno served a fervent prayer at the St Sava Cathedral on Vrachar with concelebration of many priests of the Archbishopric Belgrade-Karlovac. The fervent prayer was attended by several thousand faithful crowded at the St Sava Square.

After the end of the fervent prayer Bishop Atanasije conveyed blessings and greetings from His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia and Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral.

Bishop during the speech emphasized that at the beginning of New Year we express gratitude to the Lord for His gift of time we have to use gaining virtues and doing good deeds. His Grace asked us that in time that is ahead to achieve also something what we have not achieved in the previous period and to face boldly with all challenges of the future. Bishop ended his speech with a prayer that in this year would be more peace and good will than in the last year, which lacked it.
