Patriarch Kirill meets with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan

On March 17, 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russian met with President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan at the presidential residence in Yerevan. The head of the state welcomed the Pirmate of the Russian Orthodox Church and Patriarch and Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians at the entrance to the residence.

Orthodox clergy committee gets down to work at EU

A committee of Orthodox clergy from the EU countries has started work at the European Union. The committee is widely expected to open up new prospects for enhancing European cultural values. According to the Russian Orthodox Church representative in the EU, Archpriest Anatoliy Ilyin, the dialogue between the political community and the church should also give Orthodoxy a say in political decision-making. The initiative to set up such a committee belongs to Metropolitan Ilarion, who heads the Foreign Relations Department in the Moscow Patriarchate, and Metropolitan Immanuil, who represents the Constantinople Patriarchate.

Session of the Committee for marking 60 years since death of Patriarch Gavrilo Dozic

Yesterday in the Patriarchal court, presided by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia , the first session of the Committee for marking 60 years since death of the Serbian Patriarch Gavrilo Dozic (1881-1950).

His All Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew honored by Prince Albert of Monaco for Environmental Leadership

Prince Albert II, current ruler of the Principality of Monaco and high patron of the Cardinal Paul Poupard Foundation, chose His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on March 3, 2010 to become his first recipient of the Cardinal Poupard Prize. He honored and recognized the Ecumenical Patriarch for his "engagement in favor of safeguarding creation" and environmental leadership.

His Eminence Paul Cardinal Poupard is the President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Culture and President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue for the Holy See. The award was given to His All Holiness in a ceremony at the Hotel de Paris in the Principality of Monaco.

Patriarch Kirill becomes honorary Doctor in Nuclear University

Academic board of the National Research Nuclear University (MIFI) named Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia its honorary doctor. The diploma was given to Patriarch Kirill at a festival ceremony in the institute assembly hall after the Russian Church Primate consecrated the University's home church dedicated to the Mother of God of Smolensk.
