Address of The Patriarch of Jerusalem to The Franciscan Custody on the occasion of Easter

Your Paternity, dear Father Francesco, Beloved Members of our Respective Brotherhoods, Dear Fathers, Christ is risen!

It is with great joy that we greet you in these bright days of the Paschal feast, in which we enjoy the happy event of being able to celebrate Easter on the same day. Our visit to you now, after your visit to us earlier today, is no casual formality. Rather these visits are a part of our moral, spiritual, and familiar obligation to each other in our homes. We say this because our life here in Jerusalem is the life of a family. So like families, we can visit each other on special occasions, even on the same day!

Paschal message from John X and Ephrem II

Paschal message

Beloved spiritual brethren and children, Christ is risen, truly He is risen. Christ is risen and the East is bleeding. Christ is risen and our people of all faiths pay with their own lives the cost exacted from selfish interest. Christ is risen and the destiny of our brother-archbishops Paul and John is still unclear. Pascha falls this year close to the day of their abduction, the twenty-second of April. This fourth anniversary is perhaps the most appropriate time for us to raise our voice once more, and to put in the ears of our believers and of all the world the voice of our pain in the Church of Antioch, and the voice of all those who are afflicted in this East.
