Nearly 1,000,000 have venerated relics of St. Nicholas in Moscow

Around 930,000 people have waited in line to venerate the relics of St. Nicholas Wonderworker in Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral since May 22, according to the latest data, reports RIA-Novosti. Pilgrims are allowed access to the relics daily from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM. On May 21, a left rib of the greatly beloved hierarch was ceremoniously delivered to and greeted at Christ the Savior during the All-Night Vigil, to the sound of bells from every Orthodox church in the city. The transfer marks the first time any part of the Bari relics have left the Italian city in 930 years.

The Divine Liturgy with the mnemosynon was celebrated today at the patriarchal Monastery of Balamand for the soul of his Eminence metropolitan Antonio Chedraoui of Mexico, Venezuela, Central America and the Islands of the Caribbean Sea. The following Metropolitans and bishops were present: His Eminence Elias Kfoury (of Tyre, Saidon and Dependencies), His Eminence Ephrem Kyriakos (of Tripoli, Koura and Dependencies), His Grace Bishop Constantine Kayyal (of Zabadani) with a group of priests and deacons.

The city of Tubas

Tubas is a Palestinian city a few kilometers to the west of the Jordan River. Its history dates back to the Canaanite era, that`s when it was originally named ‘Tuba Syoys’ which translates ‘shining star’. Tubas is also mentioned in the Book of Judges (Chapter 9) in the Old Testament under the name ‘Thebez’, when the ruler of Shechem at that time King ‘Abimelech‘ fled from Shechem after destroying it and killed its citizens.

On May 29, 2017, His All-Holiness travelled to Stuttgart, Germany, to visit the Evangelical Church in Germany, which is celebrating the 500-year anniversary since the Reformation. The Patriarch was invited by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm to attend the celebrations.
