South Korean president to meet Pope with message from North Korea

Pope Francis will receive South Korean President Moon Jae-in in the Vatican on 18 October, Greg Burke, the director of the Holy See’s Press Office said in a brief statement on Tuesday.   

He also said that the previous day, Wednesday October 17, Vatican Secretary of State, CardinalPietro Parolin will preside over a “Mass for Peace” on the Korean Peninsula in Rome’s St. Peter’s Basilica, in which President Moon will participate.

Israel to relocate prison in “Armageddon” to make way for excavations of 3rd-century church

Israeli authorities have agreed to move a maximum security prison in Megiddo, housing many jihadists, to allow for excavations to continue on an ancient Christian church found on its territory.

Turkey planning to open Islamic studies center on island of Halki

The Turkish government made an announcement on August 2 that is likely to increase tensions between the state and its Orthodox Christians.

While the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s seminary on the island of Halki has remained closed since 1971, Turkey has announced that it intends to open an Islamic studies center on the same island. Moreover, building plans have the Global Center for Islamic Studies situated right in front of the Orthodox seminary building, reports Sedmitza.
