Prayerful remembrance on victims in the pogrom in Kosovo and Metohija in March 2004

Memory of the pogrom, which started on March 17, 2004, when Serbian enclaves were ethnically cleansed during the three-day attacks by Albanian extremists. Then thousands of Serbian families were expelled,19 people killed, 35 Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries and over 800 Serbian homes destroyed and burned , today it was prayerfully marked in all the temples of our Holy Church in the Fatherland and abroad.

The Prayerful memory of the victims began with the Holy The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, which was served in the Belgrade Cathedral by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, with concelebration of His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno and the priesthood of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac.

Announcement before the beginning of Great Lent

As the Serbian Orthodox Church in 2010 will prayerfully remember St. Symeon the God-Receiver on Tuesday of the first week of the Great Fast we inform the faithful who will be celebrating their Krsna Slava on that day that they celebrate it instead on Saturday, February 13, 2010, on Cheesefare Saturday.

According to the Great Typicon, chapter 42, we remind all faithful that the Holy Three Hierarchs will be celebrated on Thursday, February 11, instead of Friday, expect in the event that the church is dedicated to this feast, then it is celebrated on the day of the feast.

According to the Great Typicon, chapter 44, the feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple will be served on Sunday, February 14, since the actual feast falls on the first day of the Great Fast.

U.S. State Department on the restrictions of religious freedom in R. Macedonia

On 26th October, the U.S. State Department published its Religious Freedom Report 2009 for Macedonia. A significant part of the Report is dedicated exactly to the restrictions of the religious freedom that the Government of R. Macedonia is imposing upon the Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje Jovan and the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric.

Celebration of the feast day of Holy Prophet Elijah at the monastery of Prohor Pcinjski

Holy liturgies are served on the occasion of the Holy Prophet Elijah in all temples of the Orthodox diocese of Vranje. The holiday is especially marked at the monastery of St Prohor Pcinjski because traditionally on this day at the monastery there is lots of people. His Grace Bishop Irinej of Bachka, the envoy of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and His Grace Bishop Pahomije of Vranje,served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the presence of a great number of the faithful.

4th Pre-Conciliar All-Orthodox Conference starts

A beginning of the 4th All-Orthodox Pre-Conciliar Conference  in Chambesy near Geneva was marked with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy which was led by Metropolitan John of Pergamum on Sunday, on the Feast of Pentecost, at the church of St. Paul The Apostle of the Orthodox Centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

On the feast day of St Atanasije the Great , at the Patriarchate chapel of St Simeon the Myrrh-gusher, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral has served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of His Grace Bishop Jovan of Shumadija and His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, a vicar of Patriarch Pavle, presbyter Miroslav Cholakovic, protodeacon Stevan Rapajic, deacon Dragan S. Tanasijevic and hierodeacon Jovan (Panic) and Hristofor (Nedjic). The Holy Liturgy was attended by all bishops who take part in the work of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
