The Church is building us!

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, attended yesterday on 25 April 2013 the session of  the Committee for completion of the construction and interior decoration of the Memorial Cathedral of Saint Sava on Vracar. Before the beginning of the session,  Patriarch Irinej accompanied by President of the Committee Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and the members of the Committee visited the Cathedral Church and its crypt, where he was informed on the spot about the course of the construction.

Serbian Patriarch meets with Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska

President of the Republic of Srpska Mr. Milorad Dodik met with His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch on 20 April 2013 in Banjaluka. President of the Republic of Srpska emphasized that cooperation of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and the Serbian Orthodox Church was very good, and there were ways to extend further this cooperation. One way is with joint forces of the states and the Church, more attention to focus on the construction of schools, kindergartens and geriatric centers.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch received His Grace Bishop Dr. Franja of Banja Luka accompanied by Vicar general of Belgrade Archbishop f. Leopold Rochmes on 15 April 2013 at the Serbian Patriarchate.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch met with Mr. Zoran Marinkovic, Consul General of the Republic of Serbian in Australia, on 16 April 2013.

Bishop Dr. Irinej of Backa: Church does not intend to engage in politics

The spokesman of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Bishop Irinej of Backa, stated on 8 April, following the end of the meeting of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church with the state leadership of Serbia, that the Church does not intend to deliver decisions instead of the elected representatives of the people or engage in politics, but that it has an inalienable right to voice its stance on the most important national issues.

Government demands immediate resumption of dialogue

The Serbian government held a meeting on Monday and unanimously decided to demand an urgent resumption of the EU facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. The Serbian government did not accept the principles that have been offered in Brussels as they did not guarantee full security to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and they were not enforceable.

Meeting of Serbian leadership with Serbian Patriarch

At the Serbian Patriarchate, on 8 April 2013, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, met with Mr. Tomislav Nikolic, President of Serbia; Mr. Ivica Dacic, Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia and Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, First Vice President of the Government of Serbia. The members of the Holy Synod of Bishops attended the meeting, Their Graces Bishops: Vasilije of Srem, Irinej of Backa, Jovan of Sumadija and Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic.
