Memorial prayer rite for Metropolitan Amfilohije in the Cetinje Monastery

October 2020 - 16:31After his earthly remains had been transferred from the Clinical Centre of Montenegro to the Cetinje Monastery, a memorial service was held for the repose of soul of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral. Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic with clergy performed the prayer rite.
Saint Peter of Cetinje
30. October 2020 - 12:17Saint Peter was born in Njegushi, Montenegro on April 1, 1747. He was tonsured a monk and ordained to the diaconate when he was only seventeen. He accompanied his uncle Bishop Basil to Russia the following year in order to study there. His uncle died within a year after arriving in Russia, and so Peter was obliged to return to Montenegro.
Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral reposed in the Lord

October 2020 - 10:25Archbishop of Cetinje, Metropolitan of Montenegro and Exarch of the Holy Throne of Pec, Amfilohije, after having received the Holy Sacrament of Communion, reposed in the Lord in the Clinical Hospital Center of Montenegro, on Friday, October 30, 2020, at 8.20 am, on the eve of the feast of St. Peter of Cetinje.
The public will be soon informed about all other details regarding the funeral of the Most Reverend Metropolitan. Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven!
Biography of Metropolitan Amfilohije (Radovic)
30. October 2020 - 9:45Amfilohije was born Risto Radović (Ристо Радовић) in Bare Radovića in Lower Morača, Kingdom of Yugoslavia (now Montenegro).
He is a descendant of vojvoda Mina Radović who participated in the unification of the Morača region with the Principality of Montenegro in 1820. He studied at St. Sava Seminary and graduated from the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade in 1962. During his time as a seminarian in the late 1950s, Amfilohije knew the great theologian Justin Popović, who infklubnced his thought a great deal. He also studied classical philosophy at the University of Belgrade.

Patriarch Irinej and President Vucic visited the Church of Saint Sava
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej and the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic visited the church of Saint Sava in the Vracar district of Belgrade. - I am glad that all citizens of Serbia and all the Serbs wherever they live will soon be able to come to the Church and see what generations of our ancestors and we ourselves have managed to do together, President Vucic wrote on his Instagram account on October 22, 2020.
The Serbian Patriarch and the Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Dr. Zlatibor Loncar, called on all the citizens of Serbia to adhere to anti-epidemic measures during the next period, and during family patron saints celebrations, in order to preserve public health.

Completed mosaics unveiled in Belgrade’s St. Sava Cathedral
28. October 2020 - 14:14On Thursday, October 22, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia and Serbian President Aleksandr Vučić visited St. Sava’s Cathedral in Belgrade to examine the newly-revealed mosaics.
Last month, OrthoChristian reported that work on the cathedral’s unique and beautiful mosaics was completed. Now that most of the scaffolding in the church has been removed, the images of the Lord and His saints are visible to the public for the first time.
