Three decades of archpastoral ministry of Bishop Dositej

Bishop Dositej (Despo Motika) was born on the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God, on October 14, 1949, in the village of Zagoni, Olovo Municipality near Sarajevo. His pious parents, father Nedjo and mother Rosa, had a number of children. Grateful to God for this priceless gift, they, faithful to their ancestral heritage, raised their children from an early age in a strong spirit of commitment to the Orthodox Church. From an early age, the young Despot, the current bishop, responded to the call of the Lord and immediately after finishing primary school, entered the service of the Holy Church of Christ as a pupil of the first generation of the Monastic School in Ostrog Monastery, Montenegro. He completed this first degree of theological training as one of the best pupils in his generation (1967-1969).

Order of Saint Symeon the Myrrh-Bearer to the Serbian Army Guard

On October 12, 2020, on the feast of the Venerable Cyriacus the Hermit, Their Graces Bishops Arsenije of Nis, responsible for the Army of Serbia, and Stefan of Remezijana, Vicar of the Serbian Patriarch, celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the military chapel of St. George the Great Martyr at the Guard Headquarters of the Serbian Armed Forces, Belgrade.  Hiigh Church awards were handed to members of the Guard and military chaplains.

On the occasion of marking the 190th anniversary of organizing of the Guard, and as an expression of paternal gratitude for the enormous work invested in arranging and equipping the military chapel in that unit and creating conditions for promoting moral and spiritual values based on Orthodox tradition, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej awarded the Order of Saint Symeon the Myrrh-Bearer to the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces. Major General Milomir Todorovic, Commander of the Guard, was awarded the same order as well.

Patriarchal Liturgy in the church of St. John Vladimir

Serbian Patriarch  celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of St. John Vladimir Belgrade’s district Medakovic on October 11, 2020.

Deputy Dean of Belgrade II, protopresbyter-staurophor Branko Topalovic; parish priest of the Church of St. Sava, priest Dragan Sovljanski; parish priest of the Church of the Holy Apostle Mark Aleksandar Lucic; protopriest Igor Lukic, protodeacon Stevica Rapajic and deacons Miroslav Mitrovic and Milojko Topalović concelebrated.

Serbian Patriarch Patriarch celebrated in the Cathedral church

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch. celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Cathedral Church in Belgrade on October 10, 2020, on Ven. Cyriacus’ All Souls’ Day.

In the prayerful presence of His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Canada, the Patriarch was concelebrated by protopresbyter-staurophor Petar Lukic, presbyter Slavisa Popovic and archdeacon Damjan Bozic. The sermon was delivered by the parish priest of the Cathedral, presbyter Arsen Milovanovic. His Holiness Patriarch served a general memorial service on the occasion of Ven. Cyriacus All Souls’ Day.

Patron Saint-day of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade

On the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the side chapel of  Saint John the Theologian within the Faculty on 9 October 2020.  (phоto gallery).
