Convocation of the Circle of Serbian Sisters of the Republika Srpska

September 2020 - 20:16With the Archhierarchal Liturgy in the church of St. Paraskeve in Ugljevik, officiated by His Grace Fotije, Bishop of Zvornik-Tuzla, the 11th Convocation of the Circle of Serbian Sisters of the Republic Srpska began under the sponsorship of the President of the Republika Srpska, Zeljka Cvijanovic.
“Active members of the Circle of Serbian Sisters observe the Serbian national and spiritual tradition. Church community and parish circles undertake missionary and humanitarian activities, that have a national and heroic dimension among Serbs. The members of the Circle of Serbian Sisters follow the path of myrrh-bearing women from the Gospel who served the Lord Jesus Christ and His disciples during the preaching of the Holy Gospel,” said His Grace Bishop Fotije, who was awarded a bishop’s encolpion and a charter of appreciation from the Circle of Serbian Sisters "St. Mary Magdalene" from Ugljevik.

At the beginning of his visit to Zagreb, Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Milorad Dodik, payed a friendly visit to the Metropolitanate of Zagreb-Ljubljana on September 16, 2020. The high dignitary was welcomed by the competent Diocesan hierarch, Metropolitan Porfirije. The meeting took place in the premises of the Serbian Orthodox Public Gymnasium of “Katarina Brankovic Kantakuzin”. During the meeting they discussed conditions of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community in Croatia, as well as the renovation of the Orthodox Cathedral in Zagreb, which has been damaged in the earthquake on March 22, 2020.

Festival of Christian culture in the Diocese of Timok
15. September 2020 - 13:01The Fifth Festival of Christian Culture began on September 9, 2020, with the veneration of the icon of the Mother of God of Kolok and a Vesper service at the courtyard of the Cathedral church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God.
Following the Vesper service, His Grace Bishop Ilarion of Timok officiated as an akathist to the Mother of God of Kolok. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Marko Nikolic, Assistant Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities of the Ministry of Justice of the Government of the Republic of Serbia; Nenad Radakovic, MA, Executive Director of the National Park "Djerdap"; clergy from all parts of Timok Diocese and many citizens of Zajecar.
Patriarch Irinej talked with President Vucic
15. September 2020 - 11:49His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, met with President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, on September 14, 2020.
In an open conversation President Vucic informed the Patriarch about the negotiations on Kosovo and Metochia that had been held in Washington and Brussels at the beginning of the month, as well as about the talks with some world statesmen. They also considered the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metochia, in Montenegro, Croatia, Republic of Srpska, but also in other areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.Special attention was paid to the announcement of a number of ambitious projects for the sake of the future of Serbia.
The first church dedicated to the martyrs of Jasenovac is consecrated

September 2020 - 11:23On Sunday, August 31/13 September 2020, when the Orthodox Church celebrates the Synaxis of Serbian Saints and the Memorial of the Martyrs of Jasenovac, in the Monastery of the Birth of St. John the Baptist, in Jasenovac, in the Diocese of Slavonia, the Serbian church dedicated to the Holy New Martyrs of Jasenovac was consecrated.
His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana presided over the rite of consecration of the chapel and the Divine Liturgy. His Eminence was concelebrated by Their Graces Bishops Jovan of Slavonia, Joanikije of Budva-Niksic, Grigorije of Dusseldorf and Germany, Irinej of East America, Andrej of Austria-Switzerland, Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac and retired Atanasije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, as well as the clergy from several eparchies.
