Patriarch received Serbian ambassador to Montenegro
27. December 2019 - 13:52His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received in audience His Excellency Vladimir Bozovic, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on December 25, 2019.
Ambassador Bozovic thanked the Serbian Patriarch for a reception during which they discussed some ongoing problems facing the dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. His Holiness is deeply disturbed by current developments concerning the draft Law on Freedom of Religions or Beliefs and the Legal Status of Religious Communities, and he fervently prays to the Lord of peace for peace in Montenegro and harmony between state authorities and Church dignitaries for the benefit of all peoples, regardless of religion or nationality in that country.

December 2019 - 9:12The 2019 Annual Conference of the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion (OCAMPR) was held from Thursday to Saturday, November 7–9, 2019 at the Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Glenview, Illinois (Chicagoland area), on the theme:“Isolation. Violence. Hope and Communion.”
The Keynote Address was given by His Grace the Right Reverend Irinej (Dobrijevic), MDiv, Bishop of Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church, New Rochelle, New York. His Grace assumed the Throne of the Eastern American Diocese in October, 2016. Previously, he was Bishop of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Bishop Irinej previously lectured in theology at Loyola University in Chicago, the St. Sava School of Theology in Libertyville, Illinois, and at the Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade, Serbia. His Grace also represented his Church in external affairs, both in Washington, DC and Belgrade.

During these blessed days, His Grace Irinej brought great joy to our parish by celebrating the Hierachical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, December 15, 2019. He enriched us with his divinely inspired words, by pointing out during his homily, that only the one who is enriched with God is truly a rich person, both here on earth as in the kingdom of Heaven!

The marvelous celebration of the divine liturgy for the feast day of St. Mardarije took place at St. Nicholas parish in Johnstown. The priests who celebrated the liturgy were helped by the choir of St. Nicholas Church in giving honor to Christ our God and to his Saint, bishop Mardarije of Libertyville.

As regards the latest developments in Montenegro relating to the announced adoption of the draft Law on Freedom of Religion or Belief and Legal Status of Religious Communities, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church hereby expresses its support to the archbishops, clergy, monasticism and faithful people of the dioceses: Montenegro and the Littoral, Budimlje-Niksic, Mileseva and Zahumlje-Herzegovina, to continue defending their religious rights in Montenegro, encouraged by the power of the Holy Spirit and the prayerful representation of the saints of our own kin.
