Saint Elijah Slava Celebration in Warren
15. August 2019 - 9:55With the grace of our merciful God and with the Archpastoral blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej, on Sunday, August 4th, our Church celebrated St. Elijah, our patron saint.
We were blessed to have with us His Grace Bishop Irinej, Very Rev. Protopresbyter Djordje Mileusnic, former priest of St. Elijah; Rev. Protodeacon Jovan Anicic; Rev. Deacon Mark Resanovich from St George in Canton OH, and Rev. Presbyter Vedran Grabic, our parish priest. All of our neighbors joined us in the celebration of our patron saint. Members of Saint George in Hermitage and both Holy Trinity parishes of Youngstown decided to close their Churches to be together.
Ten years of Episcopal Ministry of Bishop Ilarion of the Timok
14. August 2019 - 14:37On the tenth day of August of the year of the Lord 2014, history of the God-guarded Diocese of the Timok was recorded in golden letters.
On that day, when our Holy Church offers prayers to the memory of Deacons Prohor, Nikanor, Timon and Parmen, decision of the Holy Bishops' Assembly was implemented, taken in May of the same year, by which Very Venerable archimandrite Ilarion (Golubovic) was elected Bishop of the Timok area (Eastern Serbia), as former abbot of the Monastery of St. Nicholas at Bukovo.
Memory services for the souls of victims all over the Slavonia Diocese
14. August 2019 - 14:25Throughout the Diocese of Slavonia, memory prayer services for the killed by the Ustashas in 1942 were peformed. Prayer gatherings took place in Kusonje, Japaga, Branesci, Dereza and Tornj.
On August 13, 1942, the Orthodox Serbs of the Slavonian town of Kusonje were taken by the Ustashas and brought into the church of St. Great Martyr George, from where most of the martyrs were taken to two nearby wells to be bestially killed and thrown into them. Several Serbs were imprisoned in the church itself, which was then burned down.
Festive procession with relics of St. Spyridon held on Corfu in honor of defeat of Turks
14. August 2019 - 11:03A great annual tradition was again honored on the Greek island of Corfu on Sunday, in celebration of a miracle worked by the island’s patron saint more than 300 years ago.
The Divine Liturgy in honor of St. Spyridon was celebrated in the morning, followed by a procession throughout the old city of Kerkyra with his holy relics. The holy march was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos, and the Diapontian Islands, together with five other metropolitans from the Church of Greece, reports Romfea.
Bishop Fotijе: A Hymn to the Eighth Day
13. August 2019 - 12:33The Publishing House of the Diocese of Zvornik-Tuzla “Sinai” has published a collection of poems under a general title “A Hymn to the Eighth Day” written by Serbian Bishop of Bijeljina and Zvornik-Tuzla Fotije.
The collection contains 136 poems depicting blessings and gravities of human existence, starting from the praise to the One Who is and proceeding to reflecting on illnesses and passions we are subject to, from the verses about the fathers who gave us lessons of life and going further to exhortations to the diocesan faithful who are thirsting for seeing God in the face of man, from the plagues of troubled times in which the harvest suffers to the joy of the nature that surrounds us, from reminiscences of student days to the memory of the Kingdom to come.
Serbian Patriarch celebrated Liturgy on St. Panteleimon’s Day
13. August 2019 - 12:05His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej officiated on 9 August 2019, on the occasion of the patron saint day, the Holy hierarchal Liturgy in the church of the Holy Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in Mirijevo, Belgrade suburb.
The archpriests-stavrophors Dragan Stanisic, Tode Jeftenic and Nedeljko Bozic, archpriests Milenko Karan and Milos Micic, hieromonk Amvrosije (Vesic), priest Arsen Milovanovic, protodeacons Radomir Percevic and Stevan Rapajic as well as deacons Dragan Tanasijevic and Nikola concelebrated.
