The Patriarch serves the Holy Liturgy with the invocation of the Holy Spirit for the blessed beginning of the new school year
3. September 2021 - 9:38Dear elementary school pupils, dear high school students, dear students, parents and teachers,
On Saturday, September 4, starting at 9 am in the Memorial Cathedral church of St. Sava in the Vracar district, we will celebrate the Divine Liturgy and the invocation of the Holy Spirit for a successful and God-blessed beginning of the new school year 2021/22. I invite all of you to come to prayer and blessing: elementary, high school, students, teachers, parents...
Everyone is welcome - both those who attend religious classes and those who do not attend religious classes but learn civic education, because no matter how capable and skilled we are, how much knowledge we have, everyone needs help, and God helps those who ask Him for it. . We need his help, above all to stay healthy and happy, to socialize and rejoice every day; but also to overcome all difficulties. I convinced myself, especially as a pupil, that God helped me many times when I had no solutions, when I turned to Him in prayer.
So, everyone needs God, and that is why on Saturday, September 4, in the church of Saint Sava in Vracar, at 9 am, we will all turn to Him, our Lord Christ Jesus, to send us the grace of the Holy Spirit to strengthen our spiritual forces as you would successfully complete a class or pass the exams that are ahead of you, and also that your parents, teachers and professors would be proud of you and that you would always be friends with your schoolmates in the lives ahead of you.
Your friend in Christ;
Serbian Patriarch Porfirije

Patriarch Porfirije: Everything the Church does is based on the words of Christ, on faith and prayer, on calmness and love
30. August 2021 - 10:55His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch served the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the church of St. Simeon the Myrrh-Streaming in New Belgrade, on August 29, 2021.
- So far, I have not said a single word about what is happening in Montenegro. We are really very sad and we recognize the modern mechanism of thesis replacement where you declare someone black in advance, where you declare him a provocateur, creator of all possible problems and then create a legitimate right to restrain him from leading the way of his freedom which is love at the same time. Namely, for one normal, natural thing according to which the Church works, and that is the enthronement of a Bishop, and in this particular case, Orthodox metropolitans have been enthroned in Cetinje for centuries, someone declared that it should not be so, although we now have no other solution because we implement what is natural and normal, and we are defined as ‘someone who imposes something by force’ and as ‘someone who does not understand the situation’ and as ‘someone who provokes’. It is as if someone were to say to you: `You cannot breathe air because that air does not belong to you!` And you cannot breathe without breathing, because it is a natural and normal thing. The enthronement and everything that Church does is always in the spirit of the words of Christ, in the spirit of that which is based on faith and prayer, in the spirit of calmness and in the spirit of love. The Church acts and works always and exclusively from the Gospel. By its nature, it is not there to resolve any political misunderstandings, it is not even there to influence them, let alone make political decisions, the Patriarch Porfirije said .
