Saints Sebastian and Mardarije Institute - Day one

Clergy and faithful filled the St. George Serbian Church in San Diego, the host church of the 3^rd Annual Sts. Sebastian and Mardarije Orthodox Institute, for the morning Orthos service on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, the feast day of the Holy Martyr Tryhon of Phrygia. Orthros was served by Hieromonk Fr. Platon (Jovic), a visiting monk from the Diocese of Banja Luka.

His Grace Bishop Maxim of the Western American Diocese welcomed all clergy and laity, many of whom were attending from other dioceses. He welcomed His Grace Bishop Irinej of the Eastern American Diocese who also greeted everyone at the beginning of this multi-day event. V. Rev. DobrivojeMilunovic, president of the Clergy Brotherhood of the Serbian Orthodox Church, greeted the Instittue on behalf of the Brotherhood. Finally, Fr. Damascene introduced this year's speaker Rev. The feast of the Meeting of our Lord solemnly celebrated in Novi Sad

On Wednesday, 15 February 2017, on the feast-day of the Meeting of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the Temple, His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Cathedral church of Greatmartyr St. George in Novi Sad.

His Eminence was concelebrated by Bishop Irinej of Novi Sad and Backa and Bishop Sergije of Frankfurt and All Germany, archimandrite Dionisios Kalambokas, protopresbyter-staurophors: Milivoje Mijatov, diocesan dean of Novi Sad; Milos Vesin, parish priest of South Chicago and Lensing; and DusanKolundzic; protopresbyters: ZeljkoTesic, principal of the church of Sts. Cosma and Damian at Futog; Zeljko Latinovic, head of the Holy Dormition church in Novi Sad; protopresbyter  Branislav Mrkic, diocesan dean of Novi Sad the Second; presbyter Tomislav Zivkovic, parish priest at Parage; presbyter Aleksandar Ignjatov, parish priest of Saint Sava church in Novi Sad, presbyter Leo Malesevic, parish priest of Kac; priests of the Cathedral church and deacons of Novi Sad.

The Meeting of the Lord – Statehood Day of Serbia at Orasac

The feast-day of the Meeting of the Lord and Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia was traditionally celebrated at Orasac, near Arandjelovac.

On this day 213 years ago the First Serbian Uprising began at Maricevica Gully at Orasac. The celebration of the feast-day of the Meeting of the Lord and Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia commenced with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy officiated by His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija.

On the Sunday of the 12the of February 2017, on the feast-day of Holy Three Hierarchs, the patron day of the side-chapel of the Bishop’s residence in the Milton Monastery, Ontario, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of Their Graces Bishops Longin of New Gracanica, Irinej of Eastern America and Mitrophan of Canada, and of many priests of the Diocese of Canada in the church of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

Upon the invitation of His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Canada, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej is going to visit the clergy and faithful people of the Diocese of Canada from 9 until 16 February 2017. On the feast-day of Holy Three Hierarchs, on the 12^th of March, it is expected that  His Holiness will officiate the Liturgy at the Transfiguration monastery at  Milton. The Patriarch is accompanied by protodeacon Damjan Bozic.
