Feast of the Transfer of the relics of the Venerable Father Justin in Celije Monastery

The feast of the Transfer of the Relics of the Venerable Father Justin was marked with a great liturgical celebration in Celije monastery, a shrine in which the newly proclaimed saint of the Serbian Orthodox Church and one of the most prominent Orthodox theologians of modern times had served for three decades.

His Eminence Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Staroskolsky (Russian Orthodox Church) officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of Their Graces Bishops Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and Siluan of Australia-New Zealand, as well as clergy from many dioceses. The service was enhanced by chanting of the choir of priests and theologians, led by protonamesnik Branko Colic, and the sisterhood of the Celije monastery led by abbess Mother Glikerija.

Ascension of the Lord celebrated in Jakovo

On the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of the church of Holy Ascension of the Lord in Jakovo, His Grace Bishop Vasilije of Srem officiated the solemn Liturgy.

On the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of the church of the Ascension of the Lord in Jakovo, 9 June 2021, the festal Vigil service was served by priest Aleksandar Simic, while head of the church Perica Vlainis and protopresbyter-staurophor Mile Jokic sang responses, parish priest of Busije, former parish priest of Jakovo.

Patriarch visited large families in Bujanovac

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, watched with children of Zoran and Jelena Tasic: Marjan, Nela, Andjela and Aleksandra the Roland Garros final in Paris today, on 13 June 2021.

The Patriarch and the kids cheered for the famous Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, who once again made our people happy by winning one of the most recognized tournaments. Today, His Holiness the Patriarch visited several large families in Bujanovac and gave generous help to all of them.

On the occasion of the magnificent celebration of the Ascension Day, the Patron Saint-day of the capital of Belgrade, His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, in this way expresses its greatest gratitude to all Belgraders, especially to all participants in the magnificent procession, which gathered tens of thousands of Orthodox believers.

In the long history of the capital, the past celebration will be remembered as the most numerous prayerful and certainly one of the most dignified gatherings ever held on its streets and squares. Our people have once again expressed their loyalty and love for the Serbian Orthodox Church and their capital by participating in this exclusively prayerful celebration. The spiritual leader of all our Orthodox people especially thanks all the city services led by the Mayor Professor Dr. Zoran Radojicic and his associates, the Serbian Armed Forces, the Police, the media and everyone who contributed to this year's celebration of the Ascension of the Lord will remain in everyone's fondest memories.

Tens of thousands of Belgraders in the Ascension Day Procession

The Ascension Day procession led by the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and with the participation of tens of thousands of Belgraders, the host of the celebration of the mayor prof. Dr. Zoran Radojicic and the leadership of the City of Belgrade, several hundred priests, members of the Serbian Army, Police and various city services, as well as medical workers - heroes of the fight during the epidemic,  passed through the capital of Serbia.

Tens of thousands of faithful, led by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, set off in procession through Prince Milos and King Milan streets, across Slavija and Liberation boulevard, reaching the Saint Sava Cathedral of Saint Sava in the Vracar district, where His Holiness the Patriarch was with Their Graces Bishops Pahomije of Vranje, David of Krusevac, Arsenije of Nis, Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja, Stefan of Remesiana, retired Georgije of Canada and elected Sava of Marca, abbots  Metodije of Hilandar and Tihon of Studenica and numerous priests served a prayer of supplication.

The largest liturgy in the history of the Serbian people and its capital was adorned with the relics of the Holy Despot Stefan and, to the special joy of the people of Belgrade, the relics of Saint Petka of Kalemegdan the Miracle-worker and tireless protector of the city - carried through the streets of Belgrade after 500 years. Hilandar and the votive flag of Belgrade, which is kept in the Ascension Church. The Holy Cross was carried in front of the liturgy, while His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch,  walked under the sky, when it was carried by members of the Gendarmerie, surrounded by children in traditional costumes and members of all Belgrade church choirs. The Police Orchestra gave a special festive tone to the procession. In addition to the Mayor and the leadership of the City, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade, Mr. Stanislav Hocevar also participated in the procession.

After the prayer of supplication, Patriarch Porfirije delivered a sermon in which he pointed out, among other things: "We gathered tonight in Ascension Day procession through the streets of our first capital city of Belgrade. We gathered under the dome of this beautiful temple dedicated to Saint Sava. We have shown that we know who we are, where we are from, but also that we know where we are going. "
