Academy on the Occasion of 100th Anniversary of Liberation of Pec from Turkish Rule
7. November 2012 - 16:40A solemn academy on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of the town of Pec from the Turks, organized by the Club of the natives of Pec, took place on October 26th, 2012 at Great Hall of the Russian Cultural Centre.
Besides His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and His Grace Teodosije, Bishop of Raska-Prizren; there were also present at the academy: Mr. Milan Bacevic - Minister of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning, Dr. Dragomir Karic, member of the National Parliament of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Stevica Karapandzin, representative of the Staff of the Serbian Armored Forces, famous Serbian sportsmen: Mr. Dejan Tomasevic, Mr. Miodrag - Misko Maric, Mr. Branko Vukicevic and Mr. Dusan Savic, representatives of the political, cultural, scientific and economic life of Serbia.
780th Anniversary of Metropolitanate of Srebrenica and 600th Anniversary of the Beginning of Despot Stephen’s Rule
7. November 2012 - 16:37His Grace Bishop Vasilije of Zvornik-Tuzla served on 4 November 2012 on the feast day of Holy Martyr Anastasia the Roman, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of the Holy Protection of the Holy Mother of God in Srebrenica.
The great spiritual jubilees – the 780th anniversary of the Metropolitanate of Srebrenica and 600th anniversary of the beginning of the rule of Saint Despot Stephen were celebrated with bringing of a particle of the relics of Saint Despot Stephen Lazarevic, the Divine Liturgy, the solemn procession and acathist before the relics.
Mr. Miladin Dragicevic, an envoy of the President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Milorad Dodik, Mr. Jovo Turanjanin, director of the Secretariate of Religion in the Government of the Republic of Srpska as well as several thousand believers from many parts of the Diocese of Zvornik-Tuzla attended the festivity.

The head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church had been in hospital in Sophia in the past weeks. On October 28th he celebrated his 98th birthday. Today, on Tuesday, the Holy Synod of Bishops will meet in order to elect the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal throne until the election of the new Patriarch.

Great Spiritual Joy in Srebrenica
2. November 2012 - 14:40On Sunday, 4 November 2012, the 780th anniversary of the establishment of the Metropolitanate of Srebrenica will be marked.
The Diocese of Zvornik-Tuzla and the Serbian Orthodox Church-school congregation of Srebrenica organize a solemn welcome of the relics of Saint Despot Stefan Lazarevic in the church of the Holy Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, on Sunday, 4 November 2012 at 10 a.m., at the Divine Liturgy which will be celebrated by His Grace Vasilije, Bishop of Zvornik-Tuzla.
Saint Despot Stefan Lazarevic (1377-1427), a son of Saint Prince Lazar, the Serbian ruler, lawgiver and poet, after six centuries comes back to Srebrenica, his hometown.
His Grace Vasilije, Bishop of Zvornik-Tuzla, will bring a particle of the relics of Saint Despot Stefan Lazarevic, which will remain as a greatest shrine and a blessing in the church of the Holy Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God in Srebrenica.
