Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren

On today's session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church it has been decided that  vicar Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan to be appointed as Bishop of Raska-Prizren.

Bishop Teodosije, baptized as Zivko Sibalic, was born on June 29, 1963 in Cacak, by father Milan and mother Biljana (born as Jovic), now Sister Marta, a nun.. Upon completing his primary and secondary school in Gorjani and Uzice, he studied theology at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade, where he graduated. He became novice on January 6, 1987 in the monastery of Crna Reka, near Novi Pazar, where he started a monastic life by the spiritual guidance of the current retired Bishop Artemije of Raska-Prizren. He became a monk on the Patron Saint's Day, Saint Michael the Archangel, on November 21, 1989, and got a monastic name Teodosije after St. Theodosios the Great, the founder of monastic communal life (cenobitism).

Autumn session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of our Holy Church

Today with a conciliar service of the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Monastery of St. Archangel Michael in Rakovica began the second regular session of the Holy Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 2010.  

Appel for earthquake victims in Kraljevo

To the God-protected Western American Diocese, Serbian Orthodox Church, My dear Brothers and Sisters, our Children in the Lord,

On November 3rd, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck at 1:56 a.m. in central Serbia, killing two and leaving more than 100 injured as well as thousands of residents in the city of Kraljevo without homes. Many buildings were completely destroyed while several thousands were critically damaged.

Celebration of St. George in Banovo Brdo

On November 3rd, 2010, a strong earthquake hit the city of Kraljevo and its suburban areas, causing huge material damage estimated to be over a 100 millions of Euros, and taking several human lives. Having in mind that many, on these cold autumn days were left without shelter, heating, clothing, food and water, we implore you to collect funds for our brothers and sisters, so that in such a manner, we manifest our Christian love.
