Cathedral’s slava celebration in Chicago

Parishioners and friends of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago gathered to celebrate the Cathedral's annual Slava on Sunday, April 11th, 2010. The annual Cathedral Slava is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday following PASCHA, also called St. Thomas' Sunday.

Serbian Orthodox Church vandalized with fascist graffiti in Sinj, Croatia

A Serbian Orthodox Church in Sinj, Croatia, has been vandalized with fascist graffiti, reports of Info service of Diocese of Dalmatia said.

The Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Diocese of Dalmatia announced on Monday that the incident was meant to threaten and pressure Serbs there. The recently restored Church of St. Peter and Paul has been completely covered in hate graffiti directed against Serbs, that also glorified the WW2 puppet Nazi Independent State of Croatia (NDH), said the statement. "This act of unheard-of vandalism has been reported to the local police," said the diocese.

Promotion of the book “World Heritage of Serbia” in Leposavic

Today UNESCO's World Heritage Day was marked in Leposavic. As part of the program "Serbia in Serbia and Serbia in the world" an exhibition and the promotion of the book "Svetska bastina - Srbija" (World Heritage of Serbia) organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments was held in the Sava Dechanac Cultural Center.

The exhibition was opened by the Minister of Culture of Serbia, Mr. Nebojsa Bradic, while speakers at the promotion of the book included Gojko Milivojevic, director of the Cultural Center; Vera Pavlović Loncarski, director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia; and Marko Popovic, president of the Commission in the area of protection of cultural properties of great importance and properties of Serbian origin abroad.

Bishop Atanasije serves in Donja Budriga, visits villages of Kosovsko Pomoravlje

Bishop Atanasije today served Holy Liturgy in the village of Donja Budriga, not far from Parteš (municipality of Gnjilane) with the concelebration of some ten priests and two deacons. The church of St. Paraskeva, recently renovated, was full of people. Two hundred faithful took part in the Liturgy, most of them from Kosovsko Pomoravlje and many took communion, especially children. During the Little Entrance of the Holy Liturgy Bishop Atanasije gave retired protopresbyter Živojin Trajković the pectoral cross of a protopresbyter-stavrophor in recognition of his pastoral work in Kosovsko Pomoravlje.
