Archbishop Hilarion leads celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Thailand

A reception was given on 19 December 2009 on behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church to mark the 10th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Thailand. The celebrations were led Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relation as head of an official delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate.

HRH Prince Mihailo celebrates Family Patron Saint in Mona Vale

On Sunday, 13 December 2009 at the Pro-Cathedral of St Sava His Grace Bishop Irinej celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in commemoration of the Feast of St Andrew the First Called. For the very first time HRH Prince Mihailo Karadjordjevic celebrated his family Slava at our Parish which his late father +HRH Prince Tomislav visited back in 1991. During the liturgy, His Grace Irinej spoke of the life of St Andrew who was the first-called of the Apostles and was crucified for Christ on a cross in the shape of an "X". St Andrew the First-called is also the Patron Saint of Constantinople Patriarchate in addition to the Royal House of Karadjordjevic.

St. Nicholas Day at monastery of Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple

Today's feast of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Archbishop of Myra - St. Nicholas Day was officially celebrated with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the church of The Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple on Senjak in Belgrade. A large number of the faithful gathered today at the Holy Liturgy to prayerfully celebrate St. Nicholas.

The Holy Liturgy was served by His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, locum tenens of the Patriarchate throne, with the concelebration of three priests and five deacons. During the Liturgy, Metropolitan was ordained Borislav Petric to deacon, who works at the office of the Holy Synod of Bishops.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Appear on 60 Minutes Segment on Orthodox Christianity

His All Holiness Bartholomew, the spiritual leader of 300 million Orthodox Christians who constitute the second largest Christian denomination in the world, will be featured on the CBS News program 60 Minutes reported by Bob Simon, scheduled to air on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 7 p.m. EST. The segment will focus on the Orthodox Church, the most ancient Christian church, and its development from its earliest years to modern times in what is now the Republic of Turkey.

Construction of monastery of Sts. Cosmas and Damian on Zlatar

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Filaret of Mileseva  the construction of the monastery complex began on Zlatar. Besides the church which is dedicated to Holy Unmercenary Physicians Cosmas and Damian  the refectory is also buing built with an area of 700m2, which will serve for the life of monks. The monastery will be a gem of Zlatar which is already known throughout the world for its beauty. The planned consecration of the monastery will be held on the Patron Saint's day on July 14, 2010. 25th Anniversary of the Episcopal Consecration of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad
